September brings a rich programme of music, culture and spirituality to Superga. It is the month in which the Basilica celebrates its titular feast, the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, observed on 8 September, and the hill becomes a place to enjoy well into the evening.
Superga after sunset
Throughout September, the Basilica of Superga will offer special evening openings every Friday and Saturday from 9 pm to midnight.
It is an opportunity to experience the Basilica from a different perspective, with free admission to the church, or to explore its historic and museum spaces, including the Royal Tombs and the Cloister, and climb to the Panoramic Dome to enjoy the view of Turin and the valley after dark, with the Alps on the horizon.
Superga can be reached in several ways. Visitors can walk up following the hill's various trails, or arrive by bicycle, motorbike or car, with a large car park close to the Basilica. Public transport is also available: until the end of the summer season, the Sassi–Superga tramway also runs on Saturday evenings, in addition to its regular afternoon service.
Music takes centre stage
During the month of the titular feast, music takes centre stage at the Basilica with four events ranging from instrumental ensemble music to international choral singing and the MiTo Settembre Musica festival.

The Basilica's titular feast
The spiritual heart of the month is 8 September, the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the titular feast of the Basilica of Superga.
On Tuesday 8 September, the Parish of San Pietro di Asti will lead a Biblical Rosary at 8 pm, followed by Mass for the Nativity of Mary at 9 pm.
On Sunday 13 September, the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be celebrated with the festive Mass at 11 am, marking the twinning with the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Turin.
Other moments of prayer and Eucharistic adoration will take place throughout the month.
