The construction of the Basilica of Superga, commissioned by Duke Vittorio Amedeo II as a vow for the victory against the French in 1706, was entrusted to the architect Filippo Juvarra. In addition to the church and the royal crypt, Juvarra also designed the Royal Apartments, intended to accommodate the Savoy family on the occasion of religious celebrations and official visits. These spaces were never completed and today the so-called "unfinished" cannot be visited, but in some internal spaces settings have been set up with Savoy furnishings and works.
